This MetOp-B image, acquired by the AVHRR instrument on 10 July 2013, shows Typhoon Soulik, with sustained winds of 233 km/h (145 mph) as it travelled across the Pacific.

The Typhoon was tracking west-northwestward towards Northern Taiwan at the time of this image. It was expected to become a Super Typhoon (sustained winds of greater than 241 km/h/150 mph) by 11/12 July and make landfall in China on 13 July.
