SPOT 6/7 eyes the Kiribati Republic
Kiribati is made up of 33 atolls, reef islands and one raised coral island. SPOT 6/7 acquired this image of one of the central Pacific islands on 29 September 2015.
The islands of Kiribati are spread over 1.3million square miles and have a population of just over 100,000 people.
One of the only countries in the world to sit in all four hemispheres, Kiribati is one of the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, where rising sea levels has the potential to be devastating to these islands.
