This image of the Shilkinsky District, Zabaikal Territory, Russia, was acquired by SPOT-5 on 15 November 2012.
The Shilka River can be seen on the image, as well as its feeders Ingoda and Onon. Shilka runs in the valley between the mountain branch, rarely stepping aside of the river bed, forming narrow creek valleys.
The town of Shilka is located in the upper right part of the image. Its name derives from the Evenki "Silkar" - "narrow valley".
The Trans-Siberian Railway runs through the middle of the image. And a section of the federal Amur highway is in the upper left part of the image.
