Nampula Province, Mozambique
This SPOT-6 image, acquired during the satellite's commissioning phase on 25 February 2013, shows Nampula Province, Mozambique.
Nampula Province has an estimated population of 4 million people and is one of the most populous regions of the country, accounting for almost a quarter of the population. In this image numerous settlements can be seen dotted along the coastline.
In the lower right portion of the image, the Island of Mozambique can be seen, connected to the mainland through a bridge. The country was named after this island when it was occupied by Portugal in the 16th Century.
