The city is the administrative centre of Khabarovsk Krai, which is located on the eastern coast of Russia, with an estimated population of 570 thousand.
Founded in 1858, the city was named after Yerofey Khaborov, a Russian explorer who visited the area 200 years before.
Highlighted in false-colour, the Amur and Ussuri Rivers can be seen passing along the edge of the city on the left side of the image.
